Almost everyone is prone to eye disorders, some major ones, and some minor ones. Delaying the treatment for no matter what the condition can lead to further complications. Thus, for early recovery, start medication as soon as you start noticing the symptoms.
Among the many types of eye condition, the common types and their treatments are:
Macular degeneration
Macular degeneration occurs when the central part of the retina gets damaged. This eye disorder gets gradually extreme, making you partially visually impaired.
Treatment
The disorder is not completely curable. However, your eye specialist may prescribe some useful medicines to halt the progression of the condition. The main purpose of medicine is to stop the abnormal production of blood vessels. Besides, oral medication, doctors rely on laser or photodynamic therapy to treat the condition.
Conjunctivitis
Conjunctivitis is one of the most common types of eye conditions. The disorder occurs when the lining tissues of the eyes experience inflammation. This condition is extremely painful and can cause a burning-like sensation and yellow discharge.
Treatment
Generally, the treatment for conjunctivitis is based on several factors. When suffering from allergic conjunctivitis, you may take some cold compress on the surface of the eyelids. It might give you some relief.
To decrease the inflammation, doctors may ask you to consume some anti-inflammatory medication or antihistamines. Sometimes, a few drops of topical steroids may also be prescribed. For bacterial conjunctivitis, on the other hand, you can apply some antibiotic drops. Viral conjunctivitis needs a couple of days to cure even after medicines.
Glaucoma
In rare cases, glaucoma can lead to permanent loss of eyesight. It occurs when the nerves get weak or damaged. Treating the condition in its early stage is important, as it could lead to fearful consequences.
Treatment
Glaucoma requires different types of treatment and medication, depending on its type and stage. Doctors may prescribe you oral pills, laser treatments, and other surgeries.
Cataracts
Cataracts need proper care to recover. Due to cataracts, you might experience extreme problems, like seeing in the dark. Due to this disorder, everything may seem cloudy and blurry.
Treatments
To treat the disease at the initial stages, you may need prescription glasses. But, if you sense the disorder at its extreme stage, you may need to go through eye surgery. Your eye specialist may ask you to replace your irritated cloudy eye lens with a new artificial lens.
These are a few major types of eye conditions and their primary treatment methods. Consult your specialist if you experience any problems with your eyesight.
